Trust and Safety

Safety Standards

Last updated: 2026-08-21. This is an operational draft, not a substitute for jurisdiction-specific legal advice. Licensed counsel must review it before public launch and after material product or law changes.

ErrandHelp is built around a safety-first model: block dangerous DIY guidance, move risky requests to verified providers, and preserve audit trails for reports and disputes.

Hard blocked DIY categories

  • Gas line, propane, fuel appliance, or suspected gas leak work.
  • Main electrical panel, service panel, meter, main breaker, major wiring, or permit-heavy electrical work.
  • Structural, load-bearing, foundation, beam, joist, column, or wall-removal work.
  • Roof, chimney, high ladder, second-story exterior, or serious fall-risk work.
  • Asbestos, sewage backup, mold remediation, hazardous material, pest contamination, or biohazard work.
  • Any job that appears licensed-only in the relevant jurisdiction.

Provider verification

Provider profiles should show verification signals clearly: ID status, background-check status where applicable, license review, insurance upload, response behavior, completed jobs, dispute rate, and blind customer/provider ratings.

Caregiving safety

Caregiving workflows should require stronger verification before booking. Errand should not present itself as a medical provider, home-health agency, childcare agency, or emergency-care service unless the business obtains the required licenses and compliance program.

Travel buddy boundaries

Travel buddy features must stay focused on platonic cost sharing for rooms, cars, tours, and travel expenses. No dating, paid companionship, adult services, or unsafe meetups.

Reporting

Users should be able to report unsafe behavior, harassment, discrimination, fraud, provider no-shows, property damage, privacy concerns, or suspicious activity. High-severity reports should trigger admin review before further matching.
